{"id":9708,"date":"2017-10-25T06:30:03","date_gmt":"2017-10-25T06:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/accionmk.com\/?p=4116"},"modified":"2017-10-25T06:30:03","modified_gmt":"2017-10-25T06:30:03","slug":"restoration-sector-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.accionmk.com\/en\/sector-de-la-restauracion-recuperacion\/","title":{"rendered":"The recovery of the catering sector is already a fact"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 id='sector-de-la-restauraci\u00f3n'>Catering sector<\/h1>\n<p>The <strong>catering sector in Spain<\/strong> recovered in 2016, when a new <strong>47,000 net jobs<\/strong> y <strong>increased sales by 2%<\/strong>according to data published in February 2017 by Brands of Restoration.<\/p>\n<p>What stands out most is that <strong>this sector is at the top<\/strong> in terms of job and wealth creation in our country.<br \/>\nIn the last three years, the <strong>catering industry<\/strong> has created 192,000 jobs, which means that the sector has been successful in its job creation strategy.<\/p>\n<p>The vice-president of <em>The NPD Group<\/em> in Europe, he passes on his words to us by saying that <strong>the Spanish catering industry has performed adequately<\/strong>The market is mainly driven by the organised catering sector, with a neutral evolution in independent operators.<\/p>\n<h2 id='espa\u00f1a-est\u00e1-a-la-cabeza-en-europa-en-cuanto-a-la-generaci\u00f3n-de-tr\u00e1fico-s\u00f3lo-por-detr\u00e1s-de-reino-unido'>Spain leads Europe in terms of traffic generation, behind only the UK.<\/h2>\n<p>This sector has always been committed to growth, and already in 2016 the total sales of<strong> the association's member chains grew by 7.81 p.p.t.3t.<\/strong>more than twice as much as GDP. By the end of the year, there will be an estimated<strong> sales growth of around 4.8%<\/strong>This translates into double the growth rate of the economy.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, it is estimated that<strong> 450 new premises opened by the end of 2017<\/strong>75 million from the 35 chains that make up Marcas de Restauraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>The data provided by the company <em>NPD<\/em>indicate that <strong>the restaurant market<\/strong> closed 2016 with a growth of 1.9% compared to sales in Spain, an increase of 648 million euros. However, we still remember the decline of the market in 2015, when it had already consolidated 7 years in negative.<\/p>\n<p>All this growth is supported by growth in the number of visits (1.3%), with 96 million additional consumers outside the home, and also by the move from a modest 0.4% increase in average spend per diner to 4.82%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Each Spaniard consumed outside the home an average of 157 times a year.<\/strong>This represents an increase of two more visits per person in 2015.<br \/>\nThe main generators of visits are provided by the <strong>fast food restaurants, caf\u00e9s and tapas bars<\/strong>contributing 80% of the increase in traffic in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, in 2016 there was a<strong> increase in the average ticket<\/strong> in Italian restaurants and hamburger joints. The number of breakfasts away from home is accelerating and more is spent on dinners. The <strong>breakfasts are responsible for activating the market.<\/strong> in terms of traffic generation, accounting for almost 50% of new visits to the market. Dining accounted for 45% of sales in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>There has been a <strong>fall in takeaway consumption<\/strong>but the number of home deliveries as a channel has grown.
